Many trade-off diagrams exist, I take for example the triangle which pits Time, Resources and functionality against each other.

3D trade-off diagram:

In a 3D trade-off diagram, the base plane represents resources, it could have 3 or more edges representing the factors of production for the specific product (e.g. labour, natural resources, skills, tools, costs, etc.)

Time is represented by the height of the pyramid.

Quality is represented by the angle of the upright lines against the base plane.

The volume of the object represents the total aggregate utility of the product.

The pyramid can be graded into sections, each representing a bespoke piece of development.  The volume of the object is limited by the area of the base and the angle of the quality measure.
